Man was created during my time at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont. Since I knew I would have to ship the large sculpture back home to Virginia, I designed the piece in sections. Man is made of six individual pieces of equal length and width. Another unique feature of this sculpture is that each piece was bent using only a vise and my own strength. No heat was applied to the metal to assist in the bending. In the pictures above you can see Man before he was installed outdoors. The shining, unexposed metal quickly turned to a soft rust once exposed to rain. The sculpture will shake and sway with a gentle nudge. Man has been in shows from New York to Virginia and now is located in rural West Virginia. Still available for sale.
