Metal Sculptor
Middleburg artist, Peter Wood, displayed his sculptures in a unique setting June 11 and 12 during the Western Loudoun Artist Studio Tour (WLAST.org).
His large-scale sculptures were installed on the 6-acre grounds of the Old Aldie Rectory, home and studio of painter Donna Clark.
Mr. Wood has displayed his work locally in front of the French Hound restaurant and in the gardens of his historic Middleburg home.
For the Studio Tour, his contemporary works were positioned on the knolls and valleys of the open and rolling fields just on the edge of the small town of Aldie.
A "sculpture Hunt" lead visitors around the field to discover 12 sculptures ranging in size from 2 feet to over six feet of steel.
Starting at Donna Clark's studio door, visitors were only be able to see a few sculptures, to experience the rest there was a map for a self-guided walk through the stunning pastoral grounds.
This stop on the studio tour was an unique opportunity to stroll among the sculptures and visit with local artists.
It was a hot and steamy day with rain showers in the afternoon. But that didin't stop art lovers from strolling across the wet grass to enjoy the sculptures.
Art lovers were then treated to the air conditioned studio of Donna Clark to enjoy her vivid paintings and photographs.
